Governor Perdue released the following statement yesterday (on Tuesday, July 26, 2011) after Democrats in the North Carolina House of Representatives put partisan politics over the will of 75% of North Carolinians by NOT supporting the veto override on the common-sense Voter ID legislation:
"I want to thank the legislators who stood firm in the belief that every North Carolinian has the constitutional right to vote and that the state should not be creating obstacles."
But...
When she sent out an invitation to high-school aged state government interns to attend an event funded by taxpayers at a location also funded by taxpayers, she REQUIRED that they SHOW THEIR PICTURE ID for admittance:
Yet when it comes to showing a Photo ID to vote, Governor Perdue could care less. Governor Perdue could care less about restoring our confidence in our election process. Sure, she cares about her own safety - by requiring that those who come to her Executive Mansion are properly vetted - but she obviously doesn't care about NC's safety. What if she treated her safety the way she treats NC?
FAT CHANCE!!!
Playing politics with our elections is unacceptable, but it is exactly what Governor Perdue is doing.
